Minsic Micro MEMS microphones help vivo TWS Air true wireless earbuds achieve clear calls

When TWS earbuds first emerged, ambient noise significantly impacted their normal use and call quality, resulting in a poor user experience. To enhance user experience, manufacturers developed ENC and ANC noise reduction, dramatically reducing noise interference during calls and use. However, both noise reduction methods rely on a pickup microphone; a good pickup microphone can provide better noise reduction and a more comfortable audio experience.

 

Recently, I Love Audio Network disassembled VIVO TWS Air True Wireless Noise-Cancelling Earbuds and during the disassembly analysis of its earbud components, discovered a MEMS microphone from GoerTek, used for call pickup. Based on previous disassembly reports from I Love Audio Network, currently, OPPO VIVO OnePlus Himalaya and other well-known brands have adopted GoerTek's products.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The VIVO TWS Air true wireless noise-canceling earbuds, released by VIVO in May 2022, are positioned as an entry-level product. Despite this, they offer impressive performance and features, including three sound tuning styles (super bass, clear vocals, clear treble), dual-microphone AI noise reduction for clear voice calls, and an excellent audio experience. The design features a vertical oval shape with a polished finish for a smooth and delicate feel.

 

 

 

 

 

 

After disassembling the VIVO TWS Air earbuds, it was found that they incorporate a 14.2mm dynamic driver unit; a MEMS microphone from GoerTek for sound pickup, used for voice calls and noise reduction; and the Hengxuan BES2500IU Bluetooth audio SoC as the main control chip, supporting Bluetooth 5.2. Thanks to its internal noise reduction module, it provides clear call quality and an excellent audio experience.

 

 

 

 

 

The GoerTek MEMS microphone (as shown in the image above), used for noise reduction and call pickup, is model MSM381ACBB10-020, an omnidirectional, bottom-port, analog output MEMS microphone. It boasts high performance and reliability, with enhanced RF immunity. It uses a 2.75 mm × 1.85 mm × 0.9 mm LGA package, compatible with SMT, without compromising sensitivity.
